Space Kid Episode 03

While I was drawing the second panel of this page, it made me think of my grandma.  First time I ever realized that Doc is actually based a little bit on my grandma — they have some similarities of attitude and whatnot!  Still, it ended up being a warm, pleasant panel to draw…

Anyway, finally, another episode comes to a happy ending.  (Have you noticed each one keeps getting a bit longer?  😛  )  Give Space Kid about a week to mend, and he’ll be back with the beginning of — yes — another new adventure!  Hope you’ll come back for that!

I’m sure I’m not the only person out there who was introduced to the concept of “surviving outer space without a spacesuit for a few seconds” by 2001.  Maybe you first learned about it somewhere else …  regardless, the whole idea is pretty wild!

I believe that, if you have a space station or larger space-city or similar structure orbiting in the void, it’s a good idea to supply it with a number of small emergency airlocks scattered over it.  And I suspect that, today, Space Kid agrees with me on that!  😉

So, finally, we can heave a little sigh of relief…  and, perhaps, wonder how he did it.  At least until next week.  🙂

This is rather like “out of the frying pan, into the fire”…  except that where Space Kid has ended up now isn’t hot at all.

So…  now we know that overriding an exo-suit isn’t very safe.

Stella has such a strong spirit.  Good thing, too — sometimes she really needs it!

So…..  what happens when the exo-suit overheats?

Looks like we’re about to find out.

When I first wrote the script for this episode, the first line on this page was “much less iffy”.  But when it came time to actually render the page, I then debated changing “much” to “way”.  And waffled back and forth for a while, then finally decided on “way” in order to reflect Pizmo‘s greater degree of informality.  But I also realized that everyone else on the team would probably say “much” instead of “way”  —  just fits them better.

My point is simply this:  it may not look like it, but I do think about this work a lot.
