I’m willing to bet that these robots were influenced in large part by Cyborg 009 — as I recall, in volume 1 of that manga, there were robots that looked very reminiscent of gray men in armor. However, my bots here are not pure Ishinomori: in them I can also see bits gathered from a whole misty childhood of robot baddies…

Great design, the way the layout of the last panel helps convey the emotional content.
Their legs are similar to the legs of Fugitoid from TMNT.
