Yes, exactly. Klingons used to be a vicious warrior race until their empire collapsed in the early 90s and now they just scam people over the space-internet, load viruses on their computers, and steal their identities. They found it actually pays a lot better.

It’s like the hologram doctor from Star Trek — the longer you spend out on the fringes, the more likely it is that your advanced AI picks up some inconvenient routines and hints of sentience.
Pretty much exactly that. With advanced AIs you need regular calibration to avoid personality qwerks. Dax doesn’t know this and Scooter didn’t tell him for his own amusement.
Time to re calibrate the old girl, and maybe give her an update or three.
