I’m sure I’m not the only person out there who was introduced to the concept of “surviving outer space without a spacesuit for a few seconds” by 2001. Maybe you first learned about it somewhere else … regardless, the whole idea is pretty wild!
[Birthday shout-out to Canada! And I’d also like to dedicate this page to Larry Trainor. 😉 ]
Here’s a creature that can survive the vacuum of space!
I learned that from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy!
I didn’t recall that that was also in Hitchhiker, Steve!
Thanks for sharing that, Lisa, that’s extremely cool!
Thumbs up on the Larry Trainor reference.
Yes on the 2001 reference, but it was also depicted very effectively in comics in a Space: 1999 story (of all things) written and drawn by John Byrne.
Thanks, Richard! This page is accumulating all kinds of cool references! That Byrne one is news to me!
Here’s a blog post with the cover of the Byrne comic in question and a page from the story, and you’ll see why this sequence made me think of it:
Spiffo — thanks!! 🙂
