Well, to be fair Scooter did dump the schools records before they blew it. Nat just wasn’t in them. The database Sally is talking about is a hypothetical one that would have to exist to be searched via Dax’s suggestion.

The core worlds may have extensive databases on their citizens, but the further out you go the less likely there will be many records. One of the main reasons to get to the rim worlds is to escape things in the core worlds. Some of those rim worlds all it takes to carve out a star kingdom of your own is a cruiser or two and beings that are loyal enough to follow your leadership. I would not be surprised if there are a few planets out there that pirates retire to or find haven in.

You pretty much nailed it here. Almost like you pulled out of my god book…. hmm…

It’s kind of like Alaska. Many people go there trying to flee something. And no, I don’t have access to your “god book” I read a lot of sci-fi as well as watched Firefly and lots of Star Trek. Throw in a bit of world history concerning pirates and how, for a small fee, they were pardoned by various governors, it all makes sense. Depending on where SB raided and where he docked would change how the various groups of people would see him. Group A sees a scourge of the stars and wanted criminal. Group B would see a courageous hero fighting corrupt corporations. Same goes for anyone in Daxs’ line of work as well.

Lol, I was just kidding. I know you don’t. It does seem like the most reasonable extrapolation of a galactic society to me as well. Why would we do differently than we have in the past? We just love repeating ourselves again and again on different scales.

We’d probably stop repeating ourselves if we could eliminate greed, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon. A utopia would get pretty boring without any kind of conflict.

You’re probably right. It sounds nice though. Free to just learn new things and create without worrying about the pesky things… like a paycheck 😀

No thanks, you can keep that. I’ve seen how that turns out. You get everyone in peace and harmony and we all destroy all our weapons and then bam – Kang and Kodos land in their spaceship and enslave humanity with nothing but a slingshot and a big stick!

Well, I guess that’s another fair point. Do we have to eliminate weapons to have a utopia though? I mean there’s lot of folk that love science. I feel like science would still advance because of those people. So when the aliens showed up they could just slap something together. That’s how it works, right?

          • Ed8 May 16, 2016 9:23 pm

Sure, we’ll just get Jeff Goldblum to “upload a virus” to the alien mothership. It’s a computer, they’re all the same, right? Problem solved! (Or, if he’s not available, Hollywood has shown us that the average random junior high school kid with a laptop should be able to do it in about 30 seconds also)

Oh man, that one still gets you too? I like how when called out on it they tried to explain it away as that we created our computer systems based on their’s and that’s why it worked. Yes, our windows 3.1 virus will totally work on windows 4007.

It probably will, but only because Micro$oft takes frikkin’ FOREVER to get security updates out. Alien invaders should have went with Linux.

            Lol, stupid aliens!

    • Ed8 May 15, 2016 8:21 pm

Yeah, yeah, blah blah blah, typical. You coreworlders are always going on about how civilized you are. We’re just as civilized here on the Outer Rim worlds as you, probably plus some. Just because we don’t cover our planets in a 19 mile think layer of metal and buildings and concrete and seal up our stars in Dyson Spheres, doesn’t make us all pirates or bumpkins with no indoor plumbing. We get the Galactic Interweb out here too, you know. Y’know, half the folks out here on the Rim Worlds came here specifically to get away from the constant wars YOU snobby Coreworlders are constantly starting ever 5 minutes over your precious “resources”. Sounds to me like we’re the civilized ones and you guys just like to label us Pirates because we don’t fit into the Coreworlder rulebook! :p

Great, another ignorant core supporter. Next thing you’ll want to put a wall up between you guys and the rim. *eyeroll*

          • Ed8 May 18, 2016 5:01 pm

Damn right! And we’re going to make those Rimworlders pay for it too! :p
