At least the random indicator light is green and not red, that’s a good sign, right?

Yes, it’s functioning as intended. It’s not like kill bots and gun bunnies will come pouring out of secret compartments and hidden corridors. Yes, yes all perfectly normal, nothing to see here, move along.

I hope so – I really want to see what a gun bunny looks like!

(As an Evil Overlord, it’s important to create both minions an weapons in your evil laboratories that will catch your enemies off guard. Or at least make them think they have been drugged with hallucinogens.)

Normally, yes. But on a bad guy ship?

Even “bad guys” need to do proper maintenance on their ships in order to continue to do bad things. Kind of hard to plunder a target vessel if you didn’t do proper checks on the airlock or forgot to install the primary power coupling in the correct configuration.

Oh no, I simply meant maybe they don’t use green for condition good. Maybe they use red to throw off possible invaders?

Understandable. The Germans used white lights instead of green for “good” indicators on their submarines. For star ships, there are probably many different kinds of indicators depending on what species designed the vessel. I’d hate to be a human on a vessel where all the indicators are in infrared and ultraviolet or even sonic. You’d need special equipment just to see/hear if everything is okay.

I didn’t know that about german subs. That’s a really cool factoid. Nice point about the nonhumans as well. I love thinking about that kind of stuff!
